Privacy policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

This policy explains what Fettle collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. In short: we keep what is needed to run your food log, we do not show ads, and we do not sell your data.

What we collect

  • Account: your email address and password. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see or store them in readable form.
  • Profile: sex, age, height, weight, activity level, goal and time zone, plus the daily calorie and macro targets calculated from them.
  • Your log: foods you log (name, quantity, calories, protein, carbs, fat, fibre, estimated vitamins and minerals, meal and time), a short note an assistant may attach, whether an entry came from the app or an assistant, the weights you record, and your workouts: routines you or your assistant create, and the exercises, sets, reps and weights you log.
  • Assistant connections: which assistant you connected, when, when it last used Fettle, and whether you disconnected it. Sign-in tokens for the connection are stored in hashed form.
  • Health Connect (optional, Android): if you turn it on, the app reads the active calories and workouts (exercise sessions and their calories) recorded on your phone and writes the food you log to Health Connect. Workout permissions are optional. This data is read on your device to show your daily figures and is not uploaded to our servers.
  • Technical data: your IP address is used briefly to limit abuse of the sign-in system, and our hosting provider keeps standard request logs.

How we use it

To run the app: showing your log and trends, calculating targets, letting your connected assistant read and update your log at your request, and keeping the service secure. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.

Your assistant

When you connect an assistant such as Claude, you are letting it read and change your Fettle log when you ask it to. What you say to the assistant, and what Fettle returns to it, is then handled under that assistant provider’s own terms and privacy policy. You can disconnect it at any time from the app’s Settings, and it loses access immediately.

Where it is stored and who processes it

  • Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) stores your account and log, in a United States multi-region location.
  • Vercel hosts the connector server that your assistant talks to.
  • Your connected assistant provider, as described above.

How long we keep it

We keep your data until you delete it. You can delete individual entries and weights in the app. To delete your whole account and data, use Settings → Delete account in the app (see how deletion works), or email us from the address you signed up with (see Contact).

Your choices

  • Edit or delete any entry in the app.
  • Turn off Health Connect sync, or revoke its permissions in Android settings.
  • Disconnect your assistant in the app.
  • Delete your account and all its data from the app’s Settings, or ask for a copy of your data by emailing us.

Health information

Food, weight and Health Connect data can reveal health information. We use it only to provide Fettle’s features to you. Calorie and nutrition figures are estimates and are not medical advice.

Children

Fettle is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
